Simulating existential conversations in palliative care using AI

The project aims to explore how existential conversations in palliative care can be taught using an AI-generated virtual person.

The aim is to investigate whether a phenomenological approach to conversation can be effective when training with a virtual person, and how students experience using such a tool to develop both theoretical and practical skills in existential conversations and ethical reflection.

Both qualitative and quantitative methods are used to analyse experiences and the effects of the simulation. The project aligns with the university’s goal of promoting ethical and existential perspectives in healthcare and is expected to enhance students’ confidence and competence in managing complex conversations, which may ultimately contribute to improved care for patients with serious illness.
