Field of work
Viktoria is a Senior Lecturer with clinical experience as a nutrition nurse and in care development. She is involved in several research projects, primarily focusing on family caregivers of people with serious illness.
Research
Viktoria’s doctoral thesis explored everyday life when a person with eating difficulties is cared for at home. The studies included interviews with dying individuals and family caregivers, as well as nurses’ perspectives on food and mealtimes in palliative care. Viktoria has a particular interest in how the meaning of food extends beyond physiological needs to encompass psychological, social, and existential dimensions.
Following her PhD, Viktoria held a postdoctoral position and coordinated the research project Narstående.se, a web-based support intervention for family caregivers of patients receiving specialized home care. Narstående.se is a randomized controlled trial investigating the potential of online support as a complement to healthcare-provided support.
Viktoria is also interested in the role of civil society organizations and the interface between public healthcare and the voluntary sector, having initiated several studies in this area.
Teaching
Viktoria teaches primarily in undergraduate and advanced-level nursing programmes, with a focus on nutritional physiology, clinical nutrition, and sexual health. She also supervises doctoral students.
Viktoria is a frequent invited speaker, both nationally and internationally, initially in the field of nutrition and more recently within palliative care. She is active in research communication and engaged in dialogue with the broader community.
Collaboration and Engagement
Since 2023, Viktoria has been a member of the European Association Reference Group for Family Caregivers within the European Association for Palliative Care (EAPC).
Viktoria is also involved in Academic Pride, a collaboration among Stockholm’s higher education institutions aimed at highlighting the importance of LGBTQI+ issues in research, education, and inclusive academic and work environments.
Viktoria collaborates with the Palliative Care Unit at Ersta Hospital on a care development project focused on food and mealtimes.
