Field of Work
Felicia Forthmeiier is a PhD candidate in Social Work at Marie Cederschiöld University. She holds a BA in International Relations and an MSc in Quality and Leadership Development. She has previously worked as a research assistant and has extensive experience in the non-profit sector, including serving as the director of Malmö Women’s Shelter.
Research
Her research focuses on men’s violence against women, the women’s shelter movement, and support and protection services for victims of violence. Her dissertation project, Haven in Transformation – on Shelters for Victims of Intimate Partner Violence, explores how the shelter is understood, interpreted, and practiced in a contemporary welfare context. Particular attention is paid to how marketisation, professionalisation, and formalisation within welfare affect shelters’ capacity to provide support and protection. The study is based on a combination of policy document analyses, interviews, and women’s own experiences of living in shelters.
Teaching
Felicia Forthmeiier is responsible for courses in both commissioned education and the Master’s programme in Social Work with a specialization in Intimate Partner Violence.
