Emilia Forssell is an associate professor in Social Work since 2015. She has worked with teaching and research at Ersta Sköndal Bräcke University College since 1996 and is responsible for Master level studies in Social Work at Ersta Sköndal Bräcke University College since 2014. She graduated in Social work in 1990, and dissertated (PhD) in 2004 at the Department of Social Work, Stockholm University. Her thesis was about informal care in migrant families. In recent years, Emilia Forssell has conducted research on e.g. social work in civil society, late-in-life immigrants and the Swedish public elderly care, and care in a transnational context.
Emilia Forssell teaches Social Work at advanced and basic levels. Examples of her teaching topics include social policy, social work with a focus on older people, migration and ethnicity, philosophy of science and scientific methods with a qualitative approach. In 2010, she was awarded the Ersta Sköndal Bräcke University College pedagogical prize to share with Professor Emeritus Bengt Börjeson, nominated by undergraduate students.
Emilia Forssell has an extensive experience of various trust positions at Ersta Sköndal Bräcke University College, such as in the University College Department Board, the Education and Research Board and the Educational Board. Since 2014, she is also one of two employee representatives in the Company Board of Ersta Sköndal Bräcke University. In 2011 Emilia Forssell was a representative of Ersta Sköndal Bräcke University College in the Department Board, Dept. of Social Work at Salahaddin University-Hawler in Iraqi Kurdistan, where she also has taught social work and along with colleagues conducted a comprehensive revision of the Social Work program.
