My main area of research is palliative care with focus on the meaning of a good death from a patient and his/her relatives’ perspective. In line with this, the aim is to gain knowledge about how health care can promote the patient's ability to live the last days as best as possible based on the patient’s health status, values and preferences in relation to existing healthcare resources. To develop models that can promote a person-centered care where care can be co-created and the patient's participation is seen as natural, is part of this. A conceptual framework (model), to promote a person-centered care - has been developed in cooperation with clinically active nurses and researchers; in Swedish called “De 6 S:n". It is currently used in several palliative units and within nursing and care homes. Another research area of interest concerns the beginning of life and how it is to grow up with a congenital disease such as a cardiac malformation, and the impact it has on the family.
