Center for Civil Society Research

Center for Civil Society Research was established in 2019, but research on civil society has been conducted at Ersta Sköndal Bräcke University since 1992. The new center will be a national and international spearhead in the field of civil society. Nearly twenty researchers, both senior and doctoral students, are active within the framework of one of the university's priority research areas.

Researchers affiliated with Ersta Sköndal Bräcke University have been conducting pioneering research on Swedish civil society since the early 1990s. The research began at the then Sköndal Institute and focused primarily on voluntary social work - the social initiatives conducted by non-profit and voluntary organizations - among other things through the development of the long-standing much-publicized SOU 1993: 82 Voluntary social work - Mapping and knowledge overview .
