Health Care Sciences

Research in health care science has emerged from a humanistic tradition that has inspired questions about human conditions and their vulnerability in health and care. Healthcare science research has made the patient visible as a unique person with special needs and contributed to an increased understanding of the individual's vulnerability. Research on this has, among other things, entailed changes in the work of various care activities. Health care science research has also emphasized the importance of seeing the patient in his or her context - family, friends and work - and not just considering the patient as a patient.
